Cookie Policy
Last Updated: 20 October 2026
This page explains, in plain language, what we store on your device when you use SwishBRD, which outside services load on our pages, and how you stay in control.
The short version
- We only use what we need to run SwishBRD. We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
- Google Maps (for address search and maps) only loads if you say yes.
- You can change your mind at any time using the button below or the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
1. What are cookies and device storage?
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Websites can also keep small pieces of information in your browser's “local storage” or “session storage”. In this policy we call all of these “cookies” for simplicity. They let a site remember things, like the fact that you are signed in.
2. What we use and why
| Category | What it does | Examples | How long it lasts | Can I turn it off? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in, protects your account and remembers your cookie choices. | Your sign-in token and basic account details (session storage); your cookie choice (swishbrd_cookie_consent cookie); Google Sign-In. | Sign-in data is cleared when you close the browser tab or sign out. Your cookie choice lasts 6 months. | No. The site cannot work without these. |
| Preferences | Remembers conveniences on this device so you don't have to set them up again. | Saved booking filters in the venue dashboard (local storage). | Until you clear them, sign out on a shared device or turn this category off. | Yes. If off, these settings only last until you leave the page. |
| Maps & location search | Shows maps and suggests addresses, venues and cities as you type, using Google Maps. | Google Maps, Places and Geocoding services. Google may set its own cookies. | Set by Google; see Google's policies. | Yes. If off, maps and address search won't load until you turn them on. |
The admin dashboard used by our own team also uses session storage to keep staff signed in. It is not used for visitors.
3. Third-party services
Some features rely on other companies. When they load, those companies receive information such as your IP address and browser details.
- Google Sign-In – lets you sign in with your Google account. Google's sign-in service loads on our pages so the “Continue with Google” button works. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Maps Platform – only with your consent. Google receives what you type into location search and the areas of the map you view. See how Google uses cookies.
- Vercel – hosts our website and may process technical information (like IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. It does not set advertising cookies.
Our fonts are served from our own servers, so loading a page does not contact Google Fonts.
4. Location on your device
Some pages offer a “use my location” button. Your browser will always ask your permission first. Your location is only used to show nearby games or courts on that page and is not saved to your profile.
5. How to control cookies
- Use the panel to accept or reject optional categories at any time.
- Turning maps off after they have loaded takes effect after the page reloads (we reload it for you).
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, you won't be able to sign in.
- We respect your choice for 6 months, then ask again. We will also ask again if we add new types of cookies.
6. Changes and contact
We will update this page if the cookies or services we use change, and ask for your consent again where needed. Questions? Email swishbrd@gmail.com. For more on how we handle personal data, read our Privacy Policy.
